Lobster traps abound in every harbor throughout coastal Maine. The small brightly colored floats which lobstermen use to locate and recover their traps are distributed across the coastal waters in such profusion that sailors are at constant risk of clipping a float or two, leaving the attached traps unrecoverable. Recreational boaters make every effort to stay well clear of the floats.
