Shaffer came up with a novel strategy on obstacle A-1. Others had taken
the direct approach, driving straight into the slot with tires straddling
floor and wall to avoid the pair of gates on the passenger side. Teams that
tried this often rolled. Mike crossed over the slot at the top where it
was easy, then backed down the steep part of the wall between the two sets
of gates, clearing both sets easily. |
